We have been taking grammar notes and completing grammar assignments in class over the last 2 weeks.  Here is the complete set of notes and assignments with answers.  You may not bring or submit these typed notes; however, you may use them to perfect your own notes.  Your hand-written notes and graded assignments will be collected on Thursday, February 8th after the test.

The Grammar Experts: Parts of Speech test will be given on Thursday, February 8th.  You may use my copy of the notes in order to study, and perfect your own notes and assignments.  However, only hand-written notes will be allowed for use during the test.

Students:
     Please begin reading a biography or autobiography of 100 pages or more for the Trimester 2 Book Project (to be assigned February 5th). 
 
Parents:
   In most libraries there is the possibility that some books may contain mature content that is not appropriate for a 6th grade reader.  Please discuss your child's selection with him or her in order to ensure that it does not contain any material that you do not find suitable.  We have visited our school library to allow students to select a novel to read; however, biographies may be attained from any library or store.  Thank you so much.

Yellow Ribbon Week Gallery Reflection: Write a one paragraph reflection of what you observed in the gallery today (6-8 sentences).   Don't for get to indent clearly.  Begin with a topic sentence, and end with a closing.  Your body sentences should discuss what you read about at the gallery, and your reaction to it.  Be sure to answer the question: are there any ways that you could help to make our school a happier place to be?

WN#1B Figurative Language Activities are due tomorrow: Follow the directions on the attached handout.  Complete the assignment in the WN section of your spiral.

HRC December: Read each night for 10 minutes on Monday-Thursday nights. Follow the directions on the calendar for recording the information each night. HRC December is due on Friday, December 15th.

Hatchet Vocabulary Dictionary due Friday, Dec.8th (due date extended by one day)

The Hatchet Comprehension/Vocabulary test will be on Thursday, 12/7.  Please review the text, questions, and other activities that we've complete.  Also, be sure to know the 15 vocabulary words that were used when making the vocabulary dictionary.

Grammar #1 and Follow-up Q's due tomorrow

Questions: 1. Identify a fragment in Paragraph Two.  Why is this fragment effective when combined with the sentence that follows it?  2.  How is a fragments used as a transition between ideas in paragraphs 8 and 10? 3. Choose one of the fragments and rewrite it as a complete sentence.  What effect does the revision have?  Explain which you prefer.
