what's up M West I'm Ashley and I'm Michaela and this is me last news caaspp testing schedule attention Mis students and staff this week we are on regular schedule with makeup testing available on many teachers are retiring this year each week we are highlighting teachers at Mas with the focus on our retiring teachers this week J is still in and Jack and a good our stem feature Mr nimick let's check it out today we are interviewing Mr nimick because he is retiring we're going to ask him a few questions such as what is favorite memory at Mas is and how he feels about retiring I'm Dylan and I'm with Mr Nick I have a question how long have you been teaching I've been teaching 28 years what is your favorite experience at MIS I think my favorite experience at MIS was taking robotics teams to the World Championships I had a team that went there and uh did amazing finishing third in the world in programming and took down 1 of the best Chinese teams in the world world in the process wow thank you have you taught anything other than stem I have I started out here as the eighth grade social studies teacher and I taught that for um about 10 years um then I moved into wood shop and I taught Advanced Woodshop program along with the beginning shop that I still teach today and then that moved into the stem program which is where my primary focus is now okay so how do you feel about leaving Mr Mick I'm looking forward to the next steps of my life it's uh you know when another door when 1 door this is another 1 opens and you get great opportunities when you walk through so I'm looking forward to that I I'll miss being here I met a lot of really nice young people uh it's been a great place to work mimic how what was your favorite part about said he makes class and how do you feel that he is retiring all right so first I'd like to say Mr nimick had Peak classes I had stem for sixth grade and I had wood shop for eighth grade and I'm just going to say both classes we're absolute Cinema they were the best classes and its people second I'm very sad about retiring is the best teacher here and it's just so sad to see him go thank you so what are your thoughts about Mr nimic retirement well I'm really excited for him and I know he's going to do a lot of really cool things and it's all free time to go and do things that he likes like writing Spike and traveling and all that stuff like another I'm going to miss him because he's my neighbor like for next to each other and I see him all the time and now he's not creepy there so it's going to be sad Mr nimic how do you feel about um leaving stem wait that wasn't the attention 8th graders are you curious about the electron high school well Michaela and care as interview teachers and students about it that's it hello Marauders summer break is coming soon and it's time to say goodbye to our eighth graders who are moving on to high school graduation will be on June 3rd from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Mis Stadium Field for our eighth graders both high schools PV and pain offer a lot of different extracurriculars activities to do and after school clubs you might be interested it in they both offer activities like drama are music and more some sports both schools offer are basketball cheer water polo volleyball and soccer today we will be interviewing students who will be graduating to see what high school they're going to attend and what they plan on doing as an extracurricular and teachers to give the eighth graders advice going forward I'm Karis and I'm here with Miss Hagen what classes do you currently teach currently right now I have ceramics 2 which is all a grade Studio Art sixth grade and then I have drawing and painting which is 7th and 8th grade and Creative Design which is 7th 8th grade what classes would you recommend in high school well for the art classes it depends on what school you're going to but at Penn they have a glass blowing well they have glass blowing at Penn and at PV which is pretty cool um the ceramics at both schools is really good program um and then graphic design at Penn and they have a surfboard sculpting class at PV which I think is really
