Today you did a CLOSE READ "House Divided" using the Digital Highlight and Annotating tools in Study Sync.  In addition Mrs. Bucklew introduced the writing  prompt.  The speech will be due on Wednesday.  You can work on this at home.  See attached notes for details on the assignment.

Today in class you completed the Tone and Informative Task lessons in Study Sync.  If you did not finish those lessons they are now homework.  When you were done you were given the opportunity to go back to the "House Divided" lesson and complete the comprehension questions.  Finally you need to answer the Think question that Mrs. Bucklew assigned to you in class. 
 
Homework:  Read 100 minutes a week - 20 minutes a night.  The next novel celebration is February 22 - your book MUST be complete.  

If your thank you letter was returned you need to make corrections and return tomorrow.

Today in class you annotated Lincoln's "House Divided" speech.  In addition you answer questions about the speech.  When you were done you logged into Study Sync and completed the comprehension questions that were assigned to you.  If you did not complete the questions in class they are homework.

You must bring in a typed copy of the letter.  If you do not have your letter you will come to room 416 and finish the letter rather than watch the movie.  Attached is a template for the letter.  If you need me to print it out please share it with me along with a message that says please print out my letter.

Today we completed a grammar lesson on Adverbs pg 129 - 130 in packet.  Students then watched the Diary of Anne Frank movie.  Students who did not finish writing their essay worked on the essay in Mrs. Thompson's room.

There is a grammar packet we are currently working on - you should be done with the first 6 pages.  The entire grammar packet is due on Wednesday, January 31.

We spent the entire period typing up the Argumentative essay - tomorrow will be the last day to type up the essay.  You must submit your final draft to Mrs. Bucklew by the end of period 2 tomorrow.

Today in class we worked on the Argumentative Essay that is due on Friday.  This paper will be written entirely at school - you are not allowed to type it at home.  You will have class time on Wednesday and Thursday to type the essay.  You should come to class with your graphic organizer completed so that you are ready to write.  
 
Attached you will find the Argumentative Essay Organizer and Argumentative Essay Rubric.  
 
All documents created during small group instruction and Support class are on the Edmodo site.

Grammar Test tomorrow!
Attached is a copy of the pronouns you need to know for the test tomorrow.  You will not be allowed to use the paper during the test.  You will however be allowed to use a 5 x 7 note card in your own handwriting.  You will also find attached an example of how to transfer the information from the pronoun sheet to a note card.  If you are going to use the note card on the test you will come to Mrs. Thompson's classroom.  You have had three study sessions during Mrs. Bucklew's class - use the worksheets from these sessions to practice.  The test will look most like page 358 - sub test 3 and 4. 
 
Remember your entire grammar packet is due tomorrow.  All pages must be complete.
