Wonder Wednesday- I wonder how someone becomes an addict?
The road to addiction is different for every person. Some people take their time while others go from zero to 60 in a short period of time. No matter how long a person's journey is, most rehabilitation counselors agree that there are four main stages of drug addiction, which you will learn about today.  Not everyone in the first two stages will develop a drug addiction, but individuals in the third stage of drug abuse are very likely to progress into full-blown addicts. Listen to my post today to get a closer look at the four main stages of drug addiction.

Flocabulary Friday-May 15th

Flocabulary Friday- Have you gotten into trouble with your friends or family because of sending the wrong text, or from not using your cell phone in the correct manner, or because of social media?  What is your digital footprint? Have some of your friends annoyed you with what they post on Instagram, Tic Tox, or SnapChat? In the past, have your feelings been hurt because of something you saw your friends doing on social media...without you? Do you think you could be addicted to your cell phone?

A recent study found....
- Most people spend more time online than sleeping in a day
-Six in 10 people say they feel 'hooked' on their smartphones, tablets, or other devices, and four in 10 think they spend too much time online
-Four in 10 people said they felt ignored by a friend or relative who was engrossed in their connected device.
What do you think about this?

Hopefully, you read all the questions and answered them to yourself.  Flocabulary today is about social media and how to post smart. For those of you who do not have social media, learn from this lesson, in case someday you are part of the social media world.

Summarize- (to help you understand the meaning behind keeping a food log)
-each of the food groups provides some but not all, of the nutrients, need for good health
-Extras are food that we cannot count on for nutrients, but that can be part of healthful food choices when eaten in moderation and when they are not eaten instead of food-group foods
-to help get the recommended amounts of nutrient-dense foods you need, you can trade extra foods for food-group foods
-the food options you choose are unique to you, and you are responsible for exercising those options.

I miss you guys.

Due:

Assignment

Watch the new video I posted (lesson 6) and complete the workbook page 21.  Sometimes creating a plan is easier than carrying it out because roadblocks can get in the way. There is no one right plan or way to get around a roadblock. The best plans contain more than one "alternative" to help prepare for these roadblocks.  Your job is to select one of the kids in the video and determine what their roadblock is and then come up with two ideas of how they might be able to overcome the roadblock.  Make sure you do the "food for thought" at the bottom of the workbook page.

I hope you all have a safe and fun spring break.  We will complete the workbook after spring break.  Stay healthy and eat well!
