1.3 Solving Equations with Variables on Both Sides

Good morning. This week, we are going to move on to a new concept for solving equations. The concept for doing the opposite operation to move terms to the opposite side of the equation remains the same. The only difference is that there now may be variable terms on both sides. Do the opposite operation to move it and then isolate the variable. Here is a video with a detailed explanation. We will have a Zoom meeting on Wednesday, 6/3 at 9am (the link is the same one from last week posted in Teams) to go over the new concept and answer any questions that you may have. Today, you are to go into Big Ideas and complete 1.3 #4 due by 3pm. Any make-up work is due Friday, 6/5 by 11:59pm. The FINAL opportunity to complete any missing CFUs is Friday, 6/5 between the hours of 8am-3pm. Thank you. Have a great day.

9.6 Volume of Cylinders

Good morning. Our focus this week will be volume of cylinders. There is actually no 9.6 section in the PVCM 7 book. It is the same concept/formula (V=Bh) as the other 3D shapes, find the area of the base (B), then multiply it by the height (h). Notes are attached below. The only difference is the base is a circle which requires you to use pi. I know that I accidentally added this concept to your CFU last week. We will have another CFU this Friday, 5/15 that will replace you score, if higher. I apologize if there was any confusion on the topic last week. Due to the fact that it is not in our textbook, the homework assignments are NOT posted in Big Ideas this week. You will need to go to Microsoft Teams and click the Assignments tab to get to the assignment. I believe a link will also be under the Posts tab. You will still have the same time frame, due the following day by 3pm. You can either type in your answers into the document, then submit it to me or you can take a picture of your work with your phone and submit the pictures as your document. I will post updates and answers to common questions on Microsoft Teams so please be sure to check often, especially if you have a question as it may have already been asked and answered. Thank you for your diligence. Have a great day.

9.5 Volume of Pyramids

Good morning. This week we are concentrating on 9.5 Volume of Pyramids. To find the volume of any prism, find the area of the base (you will either need to find the area of the base or they will give it to you) and multiply it by the height, then divide by 3 (or multiply by one-third). For further explanation, here is a video link. Your assignment 9.5 #4 on Big Ideas is due by 3 pm. We will have a 9.4-9.5 CFU on Friday, 5/8 to be completed between 8am-3pm. Have a great day.

Due:

Assignment

Good morning. Today we will be adding finding surface area of triangular prisms. The notes from yesterday will apply to all the homework this week. Triangular prisms have 5 sides; the bases are triangles (congruent to each other). Here is a video link that may help with further explanation. Your homework is posted on Big Ideas due by 3pm. Please email or send me a message via Microsoft Teams with any questions you may have. I will post the explanation of my notes later this week. Have a great day.

Due:

Assignment

Good morning. I hope you had a great Spring Break! We will be learning about Surface Area of Prisms this week. It is section 9.1 in our books. We already know how to find the area of different shapes; now we will just need to add those areas (each individual side of the prism) together to find the Surface Area of the shape. Take a look at this video for an example. You can also take a look at the notes posted below. I will post a video of my explanation of the notes later this week. Please send me an email if you have any questions. Have an awesome day.

Due:

Assignment

Good morning. This was supposed to be the minimum day with the track meet, so there will be no new assignments. If you missed yesterday's Checking for Understanding on Area, you have another opportunity today, 3/27 from 10am-1pm. Please email me or send me a message through Microsoft Teams if you have any questions. If not, enjoy your Spring Break! We will begin the new chapter upon your return.

Due:

Assignment

There will be a Check for Understanding available to complete on Thursday 3/26 between the hours of 11 and 1 pm. I will host a Zoom meeting (click here) to answer any questions beforehand at 10:30 am. Check back here for link to Check for Understanding assignment.

Due:

Assignment

Good morning. Your assignment will be posted to Big Ideas and is due by 10 pm. It is continued practice from yesterday's lesson 8.4 Area of Composite Figures. You may need to subtract out the area if you are finding the area of a shaded region because it may be easier to find the area of the whole figure, then take out the missing piece rather than trying to find each individual shape and its area and add them together.

Due:

Assignment

Today's (3/26) assignment is a Checking for Understanding on Area of circles and Composite Figures. If you have any questions, don't forget to join the zoom tomorrow at 10:30 am, immediately before the CFU goes live. The links below will NOT work until 11 am.

Due:

Assignment

Good morning. Your assignment will be posted to Big Ideas and is due by 10 pm. Below is a link to the notes for this unit and here is a link to a video if you need explanation. You can google videos to find area of composite figures if you do not like this one (https://www.khanacademy.org/math/geometry/hs-geo-foundations/hs-geo-area/v/perimeter-and-area-of-a-non-standard-polygon). Do NOT forget tomorrow is your opportunity to make up the 8.1-8.2 CFU if you did NOT complete it the first time. If you cannot complete during that time, please notify me BEFORE the date and time. Have a great day.

Assignment

Due:

Assignment

Good morning. If you missed the opportunity to complete the Circles and Perimeter Check For Understanding, you will have the opportunity to make it up on Wednesday 3/25 from 9-11 am. This will be your last opportunity to make it up. If you cannot complete during that time, please notify me BEFORE the date and time. Take a look at today's notes. It is a lesson on Area which you have all done before. The only new content is the area of a circle, which can be found using the formula: area s equal to pi times the radius squared. You will need to find the radius for every problem, then plug it in. Please let me know if you have any questions.  Check your assignments in Big Ideas for today's work. Please also take a look at this video (https://youtu.be/O-cawByg2aA) for an explanation. Have a great day.
