1.4 Solving Absolute Value Equations

Good morning. This week, we are going to move on to a new concept for solving equations. Absolute value is going to be added in. Don't forget that the absolute value of 9 is 9 and the absolute value of -9 is also 9. That means that a positive AND a negative an lead to an answer of 9. Here is a video with a detailed explanation. Today, you are to go into Big Ideas and complete 1.4 #4 due by 3pm. Any make-up work is due Friday, 6/5 by 11:59pm. The FINAL opportunity to complete any missing CFUs is Friday, 6/5 between the hours of 8am-3pm. Thank you. Have a great day.

Assignment

Good morning. Your final assignment for 10.4 Zero and Negative Exponents is on Big Ideas due by 3pm. I will host a zoom meeting (click here) to explain notes and answer any questions you may have. Have a great day.

Due:

Assignment

Good morning. Today we will focus on the negative exponent portion of 10.4. You should have seen an explanation in the video posted yesterday. In order to make the exponents positive, all you need to do is push it from the denominator to the numerator, or from the numerator to the denominator. 2-2 = 1/22 or 1/4. All other exponent rules still apply. Complete the assignment on Big Ideas by 3pm. Please send me any questions you may have or clarifications you need. Have a great day

Due:

Assignment

Good morning. We will be focusing the rest of this week on notes for 10.4 Zero and Negative Exponents. This video link is the same one from before the break, but we will now be focusing on the problems with an exponent of zero. Anything with the exponent of zero will ALWAYS be equal to 1! You may still need to use the Product & Quotient of Powers Properties, but the remaining exponent will be zero, which means that part of the expression is equal to 1. Please send me an email or message in Microsoft Teams. Your homework is posted on Big Ideas and is due by 3pm. Have a great day.

Due:

Assignment

Good morning. I hope you had a great Spring Break! We will start the week with review of the last topic, Quotient Powers Property. The assignment is 10.3 #2 on Big Ideas. It is due tomorrow by 3pm. Have a great day!

Due:

Assignment

Good morning. I accidentally uploaded your assignment yesterday to PVCM 7 (it was still correctly posted on Big Ideas; the majority of you completed already), therefore, yesterday's assignment is now extended a day, due 3/27 by 10 pm. You will still have a 10.3 Quotient of Power Property assignment which the notes are posted below and it is also explained in the video. Below is a link to the notes for this unit and here is a link to a video if you need explanation. You can google videos for Product of Powers Property and Quotient of Power Property if you do not like this one (https://youtu.be/g5ZGDNxJwxA). There is extra information that will go along with the notes for 10.4 Zero and Negative Exponents.

Due:

Assignment

Good morning. This was supposed to be the minimum day with the track meet, so there will be no new assignments. If you missed or want to replace your score on the previous Checking for Understanding on section 6.5, you have another opportunity today, 3/27 from 10am-1pm. Please email me or send me a message through Microsoft Teams if you have any questions. If not, enjoy your Spring Break!
