Welcome to MIS dance! In this course you will:  
• Improve strength, flexibility, endurance, balance, and coordination.
• Practice and perform movement combinations in a variety of dance genres.
• Create and perform original works of choreography.
• Research cultural and historical influences of dance.
• Develop an awareness of musical and rhythmic elements.
• Learn and utilize appropriate dance vocabulary.
• Critique performances based on aesthetic, technical, and artistic values.
• Improve overall health, self-image, and physical well-being.

As I have been reading your analyses of "Cry Me a River" using the element of space, I am finding that many of you use body, action, and energy to describe the dance rather than focusing on the actual element of space (formation, pathway, level direction) so I want to further clarify what the 5 elements of dance are. Hi Everyone! 
I am working on adapting our choreography unit so that we can successfully complete it at home, stay tuned for some announcements about that today : ) For today, I would like you to get some strength training in. I am attaching a link to one of my favorite at home workouts to follow, and she has a lot of workouts available for free through Youtube. You do not need to submit anything for this today!

It's Monday Run day!!! 
Ideally, you are getting 1 hour of exercise per day, this may be all at once, or a combination of various activities. Every Monday, I want you to challenge yourself to get a full hour of cardio vascular activity. Please fill out Monday Runday log and keep it as a running document for yourself. I will have you turn it in after 4 weeks. If you don't feel like going outside, there are SOOO many free online workout videos available right now as well. I am including a link to a Hasfit workout that includes cardio and abs (its only 45 min so you may still need to walk your dog around the block to get that hour in : ). All of their workouts are free and easy to follow! I will continue to post free online workout resources on my Edlio dance page.

Modern dance and the choreographic tool of space!
This video makes great use of the choreographic tool, space. From the amount of space the dancers take up, to the formations, pathways, and levels as well, the use of space very clearly makes this dance intriguing. When space is used as a choreographic tool, it adds to the overall feeling and meaning of a dance, using the attached assignment (coming soon), respond to how this video utilizes the choreographic tool of space and how that adds to the overall feeling of the dance.
