Happy Friday Everyone -

Due to some unfortunate circumstances I cannot finish all your grades today.  

I will be working all Saturday and Sunday so you can see your grades by Monday morning. 

 

I will also be posting a PDF of the next project - the Personal Narrative.  Do not copy it until Monday -I may add to it.

 

Your reading log will be due on Friday and you will start a new one for May.

We will have Zoom meetings Tuesday and Thursday.

Good Morning Guys -

Sooo - here is what I would like you to do TODAY AND TOMORROW:

1. Read for 20 minutes or finish your first of two free read books - I will be asking you for a written review next week.

2. If you have not put together a reading chart indicating the amount of minutes you have read since we left school in March please do that.

3. If you have not finished or even started The Outsiders movie please do so - I will be asking for you to discuss with me next week.

4. IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED THE THREE YOUTUBE VIDEOS AND RESPONDED GET THOSE IN NOW.

 

NOW...

 

 

3. BE READY FOR TWO ZOOM MEETINGS NEXT WEEK, TUES AND THURS MORNING - 9 OR 9:30.

 

4.WE WILL BEGIN WRITING THE PERSONAL NARRATIVE ESSAY NEXT WEEK

 

LASTLY, GET OUTSIDE BREATH THE ULTRA CLEAN AIR, TAKE A WALK, A RUN OR A HIKE - EAT HEALTHY FOOD AND WORK ON YOU!

Essay due tomorrow by NOON typed.  Four paragraphs -

 

Also you will need to watch my video tomorrow.  All Zoom meetings cancelled until next week (we will have THREE NEXT WEEK!):))

So your first essay is almost at it's deadline and from the ones I have already read you have really written some fantastic 4 paragraph essays.  I do hope that the video helped you with at least one idea to curb procrastination.

 

So today I offer the next video for another four paragraph essay answering the same questions with the same length answers as yesterday.

 

Today's essay is achieving goals using the S.M.A.R.T. method...

Good Morning guys -

This week we are going to continue our writing prompts.  I am taking an I Ready instructional Zoom meeting today so there will be Iready assignments as well.

 

These assignments are due typed by noon the following day.  There will be four of them.  Please remember that you must type four paragraphs 6 to 10 sentences per paragraph. (40 points kids).

 

 

Monday prompt due Tuesday noon:  "What is like to be you as a student right now whose school is shut down due to the virus? Do you think it was a good idea to close schools?"  Explain thoroughly your opinion in 4 well written paragraphs.

 

Tuesday prompt due Wednesday noon: "Besides school what cancellation or closure has been the most difficult for you so far?" How have you compensated for that disappointment?"

 

Wednesday prompt due Thursday noon: "What makes you feel worried? What makes you feel hopeful?  What are you thankful for right now?"

 

Thursday prompt due Friday noon: "Four things I would like to talk about"

A few Friday notes -

1. Rest, relax and enjoy this time with your family.  Do a little reflection of how special this time is.  Hopefully in your lifetime you will never have this quiet time again - so play Monopoly, cards - learn how to make bread ( I am through YouTube!)

2. Grades are not even close to being up to date but they will be by Sunday.  I am learning how to use three screens and how at all odd hours of the day you guys send me your assignments.  I don't care.  Just send em.

3.  Zoom invites will go to your email or if you do not have one your parent's email.  I will list the times Sunday night but everyone count on getting up bright and early Tuesday and Thursday and be available from 9-10 am for special content from me.

4. Finally, thank you to Jamison M. who figured out how you can watch "The Outsiders"  for free on the link that is posted prior to this one. ***

 

One more note: You guys are doing great! I am so proud of how you have gotten on this course of learning that no one ever thought would come and are completing (at all hours of the night!lol) your assignments.

Hi Everyone -

It was great to see almost all of you today on Zoom.  Here are the take aways and new info from the meetings.

 

1. Tues and Thurs are our days - I will send you invites by email the day before.  Make sure you check the time. Period 1 and 3 meet from 9-9:30; Periods 2 and 5 meet from 9:35 to 10.  Please do not miss these.

2. Assignments today - please send me two paragraphs on a life lesson you learned from the book based on the three themes and/or the SIFT analysis of the poem - 40 points

3. I will not finish grading this week's assignments until end of the day until tomorrow so do not worry if you do not see your grade updated.

4. I have tried to find a free link for "The Outsiders" movie.  Cannot seem to find one if anyone has any ideas please share.  Otherwise please rent or borrow or? and watch.  The book makes so much sense.

5. Remember to do your free reading -2 books this trimester.  Writing criteria for finished books will be online tomorrow.
