Dear 8th Grade Families,
Here are some important updates regarding this year's AVID recruitment and application process.
The AVID Family Meetings (info sessions) have been rescheduled to the following dates. The two presentations will be identical so there is no need to attend at the school you will be attending next year. Please attend which ever date fits your schedule better.
February 16th (Wednesday), 6:30 PM @ Peninsula High School Kelly Johnson Fieldhouse - far north side of the campus, between the football field and Silver Spur Road
February 17th (Thursday), 6:30 PM @ Palos Verdes High School MPR
It is very important that all 8th graders who are interested in AVID attend one of these AVID Family Meetings with a parent/guardian. We will be going over all aspects of the AVID program and will have current AVID seniors present to share their experience of being in the program and answer questions.
A virtual AVID Family Meeting option will be provided. We have a recording of last year's virtual meeting and will send out a link for families who are unable to attend this year's in-person meetings.
8th graders who would like to be in AVID must apply by Sunday, February 27 at midnight. Please note, students can either apply to Peninsula's AVID program or to PV High's AVID program but cannot apply to both. Therefore, students must know which high school they will be attending next year before applying to AVID.
Applications will be posted on each high school's AVID webpage beginning on February 17. Applications are due by February 27 at midnight.
