Join the LEGACY PROJECT - Essays due by May 9th- Unveiling May 27th at 3:30

We are looking for students to submit their stories (along with a photograph) around this prompt: Who in your family's history was an inspiration to you and why?  The stories will be displayed around campus at the end of the school year. It is short, up to 300 words only.

Legacy Project Questions 2025

The Legacy Project asks: Who is a person that defined your family's path? What is their legacy? Why are they your inspiration?

In approximately 350 words, please answer the following questions:

1. Where was this person born? What was their upbringing like?

2. What were their dreams? How did this influence their life?

3. How did their decision(s) change the trajectory of their life? Your family’s life? Were they supported by others or did they rely on themselves?

4. Why is this person influential to you and your family? What is their legacy?

5. What is the relationship between your student and this relative? (This can be just one sentence. For example, if the person you write about is the grandparent of your student(s), the story would finish with, “Sara’s grandchild is a student at _______ school” or “Sara’s grandchildren are proud students at _______ school.”) The name(s) of the student(s) will not be mentioned.

Some notes: your first draft will likely be longer than 350 words. We expect to go through a few drafts before narrowing down the word count to approximately 300 so that it fits nicely with the photo of choice on the final storyboard.

We encourage details and visuals to help the biography come to life. Any questions? Text questions to (323) 774-4567 to be answered immediately.

Submit your story by email by May 9 to [email protected]

Thank you in advance.
