Assignments LA 7 Week of April 13-17 - UPDATE

Here are your assignments for the week ahead - Please read my previous post.
 
Monday April 13 - Finish The Outsiders  chapter 12.Complete Chapter 12 comprehension questions.  Must be typed 
DUE - CHAPTER 12 ANSWERS ONLY WED APRIL 14 (NO SOONER) ***please note many of you are turning these in today.  I will not be grading them until the end of the week so please do not look for this grade or send me an email***
 
Tuesday April 14 - Watch video that will be posted here on the poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay" AND TAKE NOTES!!!! - Complete the page on the SIFT poetry analysis.  Do the best you can - you will be asked to discuss on Thursday during the Zoom meeting.
 
Wednesday April 15 -Work on Theme page in packet - Complete all boxes - 
DUE; ANSWER THE PROMPT - WHAT LIFE LESSON OR THEME (PICK ONE) FROM THE OUTSIDERS REVEAL TO YOU - IS THIS THEME SIMILAR TO LIFE AT MIS (IE, CLIQUES, FRIENDSHIP ETC)
DUE - THURSDAY April 15 typed and sent to me by noon
 
Thursday April 16 - MANDATORY ZOOM MEETINGS (Roll will be taken)
Periods  2,3  - 9:00 am-9:30 
Periods 1,5 - , 9:35 am - 9:50 am

***Please remember you should be reading every day.  I have required 3 FREE READ BOOKS THIS TRIMESTER - I will need you to document through your reading chart and through an essay in May that you have read three books.  Parent signatures will be required.

LA/7 Announcements Periods 1,2,3,5 Week of April 13-17 **Please Read Carefully***

Good Morning,
I trust you all had a nice weekend and if you celebrated Easter it was lovely if not quite normal.  I have some announcements for everyone on this post then will be posting assignments on the next post.
 
1.  I have had numerous emails regarding grading and if I received your comprehension questions, letters etc.  I have had many of you demand that I fix your grade because you sent your assignment in.
 
Please realize the following:
I have over 250 emails still pending - to open and read and post grades.  As might imagine it is a huge task and I will complete all of this by tomorrow at 3.
Please realize that I was creating instructional videos for you this morning and participated in a Zoom meeting with District this morning as well.  I have a myriad of duties on top of your grading.
 
For those of you waiting for assignments for the week I had to wait until my assignment was given to me by the Zoom meeting until I could post - I will do that as soon as I am done here.
 
I know you guys are going through a lot.  I am too.  I have never "cheated" a student out of the grade they deserved nor have I ever ignored emails sent to me in 19 years....so please take it easy on me.
 
I am doing beyond my best to get you all what you need in a time of crisis.  I will prevail and so will you.  Let's all start with the word "please" and end with "thank you" when you send emails - Additionally, when I give a 12:00 deadline for assignments to be due please DO NOT post your assignment at 9 PM. Post them when they are due...and not three days late.  Be respectful of my time please and I will respect yours.
 
The next set of assignments will be posted in 10 minutes.

UPDATED ASSIGNMENTS FOR WEEK OF APRIL 6 -10 9 (CORRECTED 4/7 11:00AM)

Monday April 6 - You were assigned a letter to me (3 paragraphs 7-8 sentences typed) telling me how your Spring break was and how you are doing physically and mentally - due Tues 7th at noon (thank you to those who sent your letters today) Tonight - read for 20 minutes in your free read book - make a typed log you can turn in when the Tri is over.
 
Tuesday April 7 - Read Chapter 9 sorry and thoughtfully with as many sentences as it takes answer all the Chapter 9 questions and continue the character chart.  Look for a Zoom invite Thursday of this week.  I will be breaking each class in half in alpha order so make sure you log on correctly and follow the protocol I will be sending you - (no behavior like the week before break).
 
Wednesday April 8 - Read Chapter 10 and thoughtfully and thoroughly answer the Chapter 10 questions - We will discuss during our Zoom meeting - Do Character chart - Read for 20 minutes.

Welcome Back!
In a nutshell here are the things you should know for today Sunday April 5
1.  Grades are updated on Aeries - if you have a 0 in a column it means I did not receive that assignment.  If you did send it you may resend it tomorrow only for credit
2.  There are no Zoom meetings scheduled for Monday April 6.  We will be meeting but I need to wait see what District and our MIS leaders say tomorrow
 
NOTES FOR HOMEWORK FROM NOW UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR
1. ANYTHNG TURNED INTO ME MUST BE THROUGH YOUR OFFICE 365 ACCOUNT AND MUST BE TYPED.  TIMES NEW ROMAN 12 POINT FONT.
 
DO NOT SEND ME PHOTOS OF HANDWRITTEN MATERIAL
 
HOMEWORK FOR MONDAY APRIL 6:
PLEASE TYPE ME A LETTER AND TELL ME ABOUT YOUR BREAK, HOW YOU ARE DOING, HOW KNOWING ABOUT COVID-19 MAKES YOU FEEL, HOW YOUR FAMILY IS ETC.

HAPPY SPRING BREAK TO LA 7 AND WSS 8 Per 6

My best to you all for a restful and healthy spring break.
I have received many assignments and will begin sorting and grading and POSTING on Edlio later today and over the weekend.
 
By Wednesday of next week all grades will be complete.

Good Afternoon LA/7 and Write STUDY SKILLS PERIOD 6 ONLY

Good Afternoon Everyone - THIS IS AN UPDATE 7:30 PM 
Sorry this is a late post but the teachers and Mr. Lehault and Mr. Califano had a staff meeting on Zoom today that just finished up.  I wanted to wait to post until I had heard what they had to say.
 
First and foremost I hope everyone is well and your families are as well.  Your letters to me were great.  Please make sure when you turn in written work you do go the distance and make your response multiple paragraphs...You should know by now that four sentences is hardly up to expectations AND AERIES WILL SHOW A 0 FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DO NOT SEND ME ANYTHING.
 
However, most of your letters were fantastic and very emotional.  As I have said before please feel free to keep a daily journal of this new normal for extra credit.  Two paragraphs a day...
 
So this is how this next week will go:
1. Most importantly, there will be a Spring Break beginning this Friday at noon! Online classes will resume April 6.
2. I will need to begin posting grades this week for completed work so please make sure you turn in your assignments as I post them.  If you know of a classmate that does not have internet access and/or a device to work from please let me know by posting on my email.
 
****3. I will be inviting you by class or by group to join me in a Zoom meeting so that we can all see each other and touch base on Thursday of this week at noon.  You will receive an invite...you guys probably know Zoom better than I do - if you do not have that app on your device see if you can upload it.  It is free.  ALL LANGUAGE ARTS 7 CLASSES WILL LOG IN AT NOON - DIRECTIONS TO COME/ ALL WSS SKILLS PERIOD 6 WILL LOG IN AT 1 PM - AGAIN INSTRUCTIONS TO COME
