SCHOOL NEWS:

 

  • Congratulations to the award-winning MIS Band! The Miraleste Band performed at the Music in the Parks festival this weekend at Knott's Berry Farm. The band competed against other middle schools from Southern California and received an EXCELLENT rating from the judges. Great job, Marauders!

 

  • Current 7th& 8thgraders, are you interested in Science? Would you like to take a course in Science Research and earn credits? Come to a lunchtime meeting on TODAY in room 406. You will hear from current students in the program. Here are a few benefits from joining the 8th grade or High School research program at PVHS or Pen HS:   

 

Earn 5 hours of class credit per semester • Conduct your research independently or in groups of up to three • Learn the scientific research process • Choose from 21 different categories • Compete for awards and a chance to advance to the LA County and CA State Science Fairs • Stand out among your peers when applying for college. 

 

Deadline for submitting your application is THURSDAY by 4pm. 

The online application will be posted by Ms. Hargis.

 

  • Are you interested in building robots, learning to code, problem solving, or leading a team? Join the Miraleste Robotics team today! Applications are being accepted online - see the Robotics page on the school website.

 

  • Attention all 6thand 7th graders: If you like the sound of a banjo, please consider joining bluegrass club next school year! You don't need experience, and loaner instruments are available. There will be a presentation in Ms. Hargis' room on TOMORROW at lunch with a performance including a very special guest. You must RSVP to attend this lunchtime event which includes pizza and desert. Just stop by Room 406 anytime between now and Monday to reserve your spot. There is no commitment after the meeting, but you will discover if this club is right for you.

 

  • The WEB Spring Play Day is WEDNESDAY. It begins at lunch and goes through 6th Current 7thgraders who will be serving as WEB Leaders next year are to report to the TAB after they get their lunch. Thank you to 7th grade teachers for making adjustments to your curriculum.

 

6th and 7th grade Ambassadors will meet during lunch THURSDAY in room 308.

 

 

  • Attention Marauders: It is time to return your library books. ALL books are due back by THIS FRIDAY, MAY 24th. Please return your books now to avoid any last-minute problems at the end of the year.

 

  • 8th Graders who will be attending Pen HS in the fall may complete the Parent’s Advisory Council Application that is located on the MIS website under Latest News > 8th Grade Corner. It is due by NEXT FRIDAY, MAY 31st at 3pm.

 

  • Attention 7th & 8th Graders interested in Robotics, the VEX Summer Robotics Class is now open for registration! Design, Build and Program robots used by high school competition teams this summer at Peninsula High School. The class will teach programming and robot engineering. Students will design and build robots for a VEX robotics style game. Students learn C++ programming. Class taught by recent Peninsula and UC alumni. For information go to pvpss.com
