Trimester 2 Week 10: 2/12/18~2/16/18

Monday - Thursday nights read/record 10 mins. on HRC February (due Thursday, March 1st).

 

Monday: Continue Biography Prewriting Activities: Finish creating 15 notecards (5 per paragraph) and a source list (see handout) due tomorrow.

HW: R/R 10 mins; finish your 15 notecards if you didn't finish in class (due tomorrow).

 

Tuesday: Continue Biography Prewriting Activities: Begin Biography Outline. Notecards checked tomorrow.

Wednesday: Check notecards; complete Valentine Acrostic Poem and Friendly Letter.

HW: R/R 10 mins; continue working on Biography Outline.

 

Thursday: Finish Biography Prewriting Activities: Finish Biography Outline.

Friday: Peer edit Biography Outline; continue writing Biography

Trimester 2 Week 9: 2/5/18~2/9/18

Monday - Thursday nights read/record 10 mins. on HRC February (due Thursday, March 1st).

 

Monday: Biography project will be discussed as soon as Grammar Experts projects are completed.  Grammar Experts Presentation: Take notes on Prepositions:  Preposition, Propositional Phrase, Object of a Preposition, and Compound Preposition. 

HW: R/R 10 mins; bring 15 notecards (for Biography Project)

 

Tuesday: Biography project will be discussed as soon as Grammar Experts projects are completed. Complete Adverbs vs Prepositions p. 66 Ex. 12 Q's 1-10. Finish Grammar Experts Presentations: Take notes on Conjunctions: Coordinating and Correlative and Interjections.  Complete Identifying Parts of Speech Rev. C P. 70 A's 1-10.

HW: R/R 10 mins; bring 15 notecards and your novel if possible (for Biography Project); Grammar Notes and assignments due and Grammar Test on Thursday.

 

Wednesday: Go over/correct assignments for Groups 5-9.  Begin Biography Prewriting Activities: Note-taking

Grammar Experts Group Notes Groups 1-4

We have been taking notes during our Grammar Experts Group Presentations.  These are notes to use in case you were absent, or you weren't able to copy the notes quickly enough.  You may copy these notes into your spiral; however, you may not just print them and bring them.  They must be in your own handwriting in order to be submitted for credit and used during the test.

Trimester 2 Week 7: 1/22/18~1/25/18

Monday-Thursday R/R 10 mins. on HRC January (due February 1st).

 

Monday:  Group Presentations: Take Notes on Nouns, Compound Nouns, Proper Nouns and Common Nouns.  Complete p. 27 Ex. 2 Q's 6-10 and p. 28 Ex. 3 Q's 15- 20.

HW:  R/R 10 mins (finish reading your BiographyAutobiography by 2/5)

 

Tuesday:  Group Presentations: Take Notes on Pronouns, Antecedent, Personal Pronouns, Reflexive and Intensive Pronouns.  Complete p. 33 Ex.6 Q's 1-10.

HW:  R/R 10 mins (finish reading your BiographyAutobiography by 2/5); Be prepared to teach your concepts to the class.

 

Wednesday:  Group Presentations: Take Notes on Demonstrative, Indefinite, Interrogative, and Relative Pronouns.

Trimester 2 Week 6: 1/16/18~1/19/18

 

Tuesday - Thursday nights: read and record 10 mins. on HRC January.

 

Tuesday:  Discuss Yellow Ribbon Week and its importance.  Continue Grammar Experts Group Project: Create teaching posters.

HW:  R/R 10 mins.

 

Wednesday:  Visit the Yellow Ribbon Week Gallery. Then, continue working on Grammar Experts Group Project: poster. 

HW:  R/R 10 mins. Yellow Ribbon Week Gallery Reflection: Write a one paragraph reflection of what you observed in the gallery (6-8 sentences).  Begin with a topic sentence, and end with a closing.  Your body sentences should discuss what you read about at the gallery, and your reaction to it.  Be sure to answer the question: are there any ways that you could help to make our school a happier place to be?

 

Thursday:  Discuss Yellow Ribbon Week Pin Meanings.  Continue Grammar Experts Group Project: Finish teaching posters, create notecards.

HW:  R/R 10 mins.

Trimester 2 Week 5: 1/8/18~1/12/18

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights: read and record 10 mins. on HRC January.

 

Monday:  Finish RA#4B P. 128 Writing Prompt.  Go over answers to the Hatchet test.  Begin WN#1B Figurative Language Activities.  Review/rewrite figurative language definitions.  Begin coming up with your own examples of the 4 different types that we are covering (see handout)

HW:  RA#4B Book of the Dead Focus Q's 1-5 and Writing Prompt will be collected tomorrow.  Please be sure that they are completed, torn out and stapled.

 

Tuesday: Turn in RA#4B Book of the Dead Focus Q's 1-5 and Writing Prompt (w/pp. 125-128 in Study Sync).  Continue WN#1B Figurative Language Activities.  Come up with your own examples for each of the 4 different types of Figurative Language.  Listen to the lyrics for "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch."  Find the uses of figurative language in the lyrics and annotate the text (see handouts).

HW:  No HW: Family Fun Night

 

Wednesday:  Continue WN#1B Figurative Language Activities.  Finish finding the uses of figurative language in the lyrics and annotate the text (see handouts).  Complete the reflection by telling the similarities and differences between listening to the song and reading the text.  Begin Grammar Expert Group Projects.  1. Split into Expert Groups and begin discussing the project.

Thursday:  Turn in WN#1B Figurative Language Activities; begin researching your topic for the Grammar Experts Group Project.
