good morning poems by students this is an update for you and some chips and some just show you around the whitebox learning glider screen so that I can sure to show you ways to improve your aircraft and ways to make that flight out that longer in the keys to get the flight to go the bestest and fall okay so we're going to go to the screen so I can show you around okay so here's your screen and hopefully you are taking the time to do the research hear the information that you get on this in terms of understanding a flight is significant and so it is really important that you have read the information here and done the worksheets to help you trip there is a lot of information about how to create a a airfoil so that you get some lift and information about how to reduce things like drag wait the significance of doing that and the cost-benefit analysis for dozen how when you change things one you may improve one are your airplane but not another okay so the basic chemistry I just want to go ahead and show the engineering here and give you an idea where you seem to be looking when you open up your airplane to see the airplane Odyssey set the design model right here and one of the key things that you want to look at is here under analysis and that it's optimization seriously the optimization to record information about your airplane and you can't hear this airplane which is basically just there generic round one is unstable in terms of both its pitch and its center of gravity the pitch horizontal stabilizer and the y'all so those things we would need to move up and you want to get these as far to you're right as possible as you were okay it's nice to have this up and ready to roll when you're working out things now obviously to see certain aspects I can see all of my airplane here if I want to work on a piece dungeon click on the eye I'm working out on the ranch all right so on the Rancher you will see that what it's doing is giving me the height which is actually the height of the Palacios what's this area that you see right here and currently that 13 mm I can change that just so you can see the shift if I drop that down and I hit five show me a super skinny but that's probably as you can actually go that low and you'll see that in the more I look at the specs that are going to be on there you will see the length of the airplane here so this is the length of the fuselage here in again this can be adjusted so I can take that down to 200 apply see my airplane shrink that's efficient in a lot of ways but obviously there are requirements that you have to have for your airplane within the specs and so you will see that you won't be able to shrink it that much sorry I wish you can see on the future lies here is front ballast the front ballast is additional weight that you can add to your airplane and so you can adjust the front ballast it to give it additional nose wait and you'll see that that has some I mean that fax things like pitch changed but the way it goes up and I can change the number of grams that I have here with the front on the front and rear balance if you wish to add it on the rear car thinks please hits helpful when you're working through levels so you can say I'd like to be green and then my it'll turn green for you so you can mark it so you can kind of call you airplane as you work your way through so you can just hear you can you can adjust the length of the airplane and the way you can also adjust a nose taper so I can change the nose also and make the news you see right here it's tapering down I can make them different sickness and they would change also have those are all available to for you to adjust in the fuselage section okay so if I switch to Wing another open up you'll see my wing open up here and I'm going to take the fuselage dancing to seawing first of all the EX off that this is the position of the wing in relation to the fuselage so I can move this forward or back on my airplane I'm so if I say 75 mm and a half you will see a move the wings for their back airplane and it's just so by adjusting the standing what I'm doing is creating a slope on the front of my airplane and the more I stand that the more slope I'm going to get and that is going to increase the airflow over this and I'll be talking about this tomorrow what is it known as Premier League's principal and how you create an airfoil you're going to see some changes here Waits going to drop hitch roll lift start the shift up but no please. I'm gaining things and losing things as well you can have a square tipped Wing or you can have a round if you choose to have around you can position the peace and then it will adjust accordingly to round out the wing and that's going to help with dry your purchases drive shift and immediately is just right here and again I'll talk more about this tomorrow but you should look at the information about wings then there's a tip dihedral and you'll see that what that will do if I apply that is 2 then the winged at the tips so you'll see it now stiff so now I have two different angles to work with your I have a tip dihedral also so it's going to go five degrees across and then I have a tip that he know which I can shift and then you can go polyhedral and I can apply that and you'll see now I have multiple bands in my wings and I can actually change the Angles and all of this so that allows you to create a difference between each time so between your choices of the dihedral the tips I need the polyhedral are different ones you can work with you can change the color to let you identify your airplane so those three choices that you can choose from again I'll let you read some information Norfolk more by Don as I work your way through Olympic down on that then you can go to your horizontal stabilizer so this is your horizontal stabilizer back here and again you can adjust the shape of by pushing it around changing safety got to stay within your respects but you'll see immediately you get different ships here as as you make adjustments and you want to stay out of that unstable Zone you can see stable there in terms of pitch and yaw so you can round us if you wish to what's on the front and on the rear so give you different shape no please you get a massive shift on that when you do go round so you'll have to receive everything as you go Sandy Level again can be light to heavy and you can apply that and you can color it also so that's the horizontal stabilizer you will have the vertical stabilizer right here and adjust the height on the vertical stabilizer you can bring that up and you can adjust the width on it also and you can see the effects of that house as it begins to make adjustments so that's done on the stabilizer again you can do a different standing level on here you can do light to heavy again that's going to affect how the wind is moved over and decrease your amount of drag okay so those are your upper design pieces and lies manipulates rings and again not sure I'll go back to the one-year you can make the adjustments on the wing okay couple of things of note I'm going to talk about that so if I go to my list on I keep my wing open you will see the list section there is a wing lift efficiency so the higher the lift efficiency obviously the better the airplane is going to lift to know if I increase the size of my Wing near it's gone increase my lifts efficiency so there's no more surface there and it gives me an opportunity to create the additional left so listen efficiency was one of the things you shouldn't look at closely will also know that there is the line here is 7.62 grams so it's going to take a lot of big Wing to get that off the ground because there's a lot of weight I want to decrease the weight also I can do that by adjusting things like the size of the wing the length of the fuselage the other pieces on the airplane and adjusting those two decreased weight as well okay so that's a number also right there when you get to lift underweight here's that wait I was talking about those 7.62 again I can see the different weights here and then I can make adjustments accordingly decrease like the fuselage decrease the wing size it just might give rise to get to weight down as low as possible. Okay can you come to drag note that you are getting your average wincore here and your aspect ratio those are also helpful when you're working on that I'm going to come how to pitch and go to this number right here that's static Morgan now you see my thyroid and currently 46.61 that is not great you want to be as close to 2:25 as you can the closer you are 25 the better your style Morgan will be and that will make your airplane more stable as it flies so those are our relationship between both the wing and the 12 so you want to get as close as possible and you can do that again by listing things like the wings I so if I was to decrease the wing here you will see I guess chicken stock margin and if I actually move my offset here I'm going to move this back SMS Technologies climbing rapidly here Allen done a lot with design move it forward see if I can adjust that again and my side margins to come way down to 28 right here but you'll see this is now got a lot of pictures shoes because of its listen to against Occam Origins here when I just the stock market is closed to 25 if you can all right so you can also see you on here celebrity calculations on there's also a roll ski and that one is affected definitely buy you a wink okay changing the angle on your wings that has one of profound fact along with making your adjustments to size you are ready you can go in and of course save your model and then you can go ahead and compete I'm it's best to compete against them I tend to compete against people to talk to and so I'll make sure I'll build a model I think sort of looks like it might be okay and then based on my specs so remember that you need to go to your outputs and look at your specs she'll see here that currently my length of my fuselages too long a 302 my record on my tip court so that means at the center would be my record on my wing is 2y and at the tip of my wing it is too wide okay same things true of my horizontal stabilizer at my record which is the center of the horizontal stabilizer i m to y and I am too heavy I'm only alive point five the ground I have 3.8 unbalanced set a lot of things are in red here to turn black once I turn black if I'm going to go to competition and compete in the competition I want to compete against basically somebody that's in the top 10 so if I look here my first choice would be to go after someone who's had top 10 qualifier you know I'm going to go to the next person to right now your number three right here I would go after number two and I'm that way I can compare my airplane to there may come take a look at that what they've done see if they are doing anything different than me to make me look better in terms of where the specs are and then start to make adjustments accordingly start to ship my wings to increase the surface area of up to the next level and I want to make one change at a time then test that change if I feel confident that changes going to have a profound effect if you change the five things you never going to know which one is actually working for you in your airplane you want to understand each change how the angle changes on the Wing Wah what does the airflow over the wing I'm going to walk again with this meeting this morning worksheets so hopefully that's enough information right now and
