Making containers, groups and cutting windows and doors.

good morning ladies and gentlemen this is the second video in regards to the container house on the first one we were going to use SketchUp on so hopefully you've created your plan for your house and you can see I've got my containers light out and I assume you sent this to me already and then you can see each container so we're never going to go ahead and convert that into three-dimensional computer file using SketchUp okay so the switch over to kiss ketchup here find I'm going to go ahead and say Cretin you find out when you're going to face feet and inches so our friends will pop up and I'm going to do the normal witches to right click on her and just go ahead and erase what I have to do is lay out my containers now I already do you all the skills that we have picked up over the course of our practice to create the objects that we're looking at so obviously I would start with a rectangle are the measurements so this is going to be eight feet , 20 feet which is the standard size for a container so there is the Baseline of the container the interior house never have a walls on the outside of the house got really strange there was no sickness to them so I have to have sickness here to do thickness I need to go to my offset and when I want please go ahead and offset the wall so I want to go ahead and offset these walls and I want to go get them the standard thickness which is going to be for in so4 and just go ahead and feed enter and there is my container okay now this container is going to be one of the four containers that I use now note that in the situation each container will be different even though it is a copy I'm so but I want to isolate the geometry that way when I stick the containers together were correctly to isolate the geometry I want to go ahead and triple click on it get everything to highlight then right click and make it a group I remember a group is something that's not going to be duplicated exactly the same if I wanted to exactly the same I would do a component but I would think that most of you are not your containers are not identical is going to be windows and doors in different places so therefore it is a group okay I can verify that a group now by clicking on it on my group boxtel open if I click on this once removed but you may only have three I'm going to start to move it across sulky to get a coffee then again I control and get a copy and then let go and then go ahead for moving it again control and get a copy and just like that I have four containers to work with and each container is its own separate group okay acid important because anytime I want to work on the group I must open the box so the boxes now open on my first container I'm what I want to do is go ahead and lay out my first container that container is going to be the kitchen so let me show you here online camera this one my kitchen right here it has a big opening here off the patio that has a couple of side doors and then going to have a window across the back on the kitchen cabinets so what I want to do is go ahead and cut all the windows and the doors first and it is really similar to how you would see that if you go in you are I'll go to that dorms that float that should be a video of the construction of those new even cut all the windows and doors before they put them together okay just makes life a lot easier to do the same thing as if we're going to go ahead and come around and I'm going to work on this so the first thing I'm going to go ahead and renew my group Box is open I'll take my rectangle soon and I'm going to open the steaks text enough it's going to go to the patio like it has patio doors I was going to come down to the corner here I'm going to reach all the way across and stayed that face on there so now I have that rectangle on there I can take my push pull tool and I can push it back and I go back to the baggage that's called The Off limit want to let go. Peaceful disappear so now I have this big opening right here okay next thing I want to do is cut the doors I have side doors on both sides of this container so I'm going to go to this point right here and I'm going to grab my tape measure tool because I want to make sure my doors end up in the right spots that way it's easier for me to work with so I grabbed the tape measure tool here I'll come to the edge of my box and I'm just going to pull out and I'm going to go 6 inches away so I'm think I'm six nieces and then I'm going to go to my rectangle tool and I'm going to go ahead and put a door in now doors are hockey real world yes it's rude or small door is 3 ft hopefully you're not in the Lakers and for bumping your head and then I'll go ahead and just push that one back in time to the office at limit it's going right there and that one disappears and now I have my door cut let me swing back around to the other side I'm going to have another door on this side based on my play I'll do the same thing I'll come out 6 inches so there's my six inches and then I'm going to go ahead and do my next door coming to this corner reaching up again I'm doing the same size door so important for 3 feet by 7 feet where's my next door and now I can go ahead and push that one back and that one disappears the only other opening I have on this container is going to be the window on the back here in the back here don't think I need to moving at the moment I can do this without that and I'm going to pull a rectangle back here long window across the top that's going to let light into my container and that is also a I'm not going to get in the way of the kitchen cabinets was not going to be too tall so I'm pushing that one back in can you go to my Edge and there we go and at that point I have now shut all the holes in the container all my doors my windows are cut so let's do a stay here so I don't lose anything how to get my sketch a folder and this one going to be my container house and I saved a saving sorry coming up here is container house not going to lose any thanks my first ones done imma stop there on that one and I'm going to go to my next container so if I come to my camera here just so I can show you where I'm at I'm going to be on this side right here this side right here I'm what I'm going to do is need a door going into my kitchen and then I'll need a door on the other end and then a door on an opening right here and I'm going to probably put a window on the back side right here so still quite a few old is there a mountain as well not actually you should go relatively quickly I'm going to double up on this guy right here so I'm going to open up the the group box and I'm going to turn this Samba turn sideways so I'm going to need first to work, right here so I might just actually move this first and I'm going to dry it out so I can work on it a little bit easier and then I'll go back and double click on that open up my group again so I'm going to need a ID or two doors one here and one here and then a door in the so what I'm going to do is go ahead and grab tape measure tool here I'm going to measure in 6 inches answer I'll come to the other side and I will do six senses enter then I'm going to go to my rectangle tool and pull the door that's going to be 3 seed , 7 feet enter and I'll do the same thing over here zoom in on this one and go with my three feet, 7 feet enter and now I have my two door so I can go to my push pull tool take the back to the face to see back to the face that disappeared I'm going to have some peace in the middle here so I'm going to want to I'm going to come in there what's near and I'm actually going to do another class action here the office. I have a lot of people to walk out from my living room area to the outside cuz we were going to be my living room also it's going to be the same height and that's going to push today and now I got. So now I have my living room area cut open as well for myself and I just got to figure out how I'm going to put this in position so Torx bit. I'm going to grab my move tool I'm going to grab it and move it over here will line up over here then I want to come over the top right here find one of my rotate pieces and just rotate that 90 degrees There It Is I've turned at 90 degrees and then all I want to do is line up my windows and doors so I'm going to rotate moving over the top right here remind me to come over and then go ahead and snap that right into position now I've snapped together my fur Porsche and you can see now I can walk between my kitchen and my living room so appalled there cuz I think that gives you a pretty good idea I will have to do the same thing to these containers right here and it's really nice and helpful if you make them groups first and then open and close the component box a lot of times I'll get questions about interior pieces but today I want you just focus on getting your he's in the right position and cutting the windows and doors and then tomorrow I'll do the you on how to ask some walls and things like having some stuff for the inside okay aren't helpful for you and to protect
